Being able to carry a tiny dog almost anyplace is one of the best things about having one. Instead of leaving my pomeranian Luna at home or having to ship her in cargo, I can easily travel with her in the airline cabin because she wants to be taken around in her tote bag.
Of course, airlines have strict rules when you’re flying with a dog in cabin, which you need to abide by.
You must first buy an airline dog carrier that conforms to the airline's maximum dimensions. You must always keep your dog in the bag under the seat in front of you, and the carrier must allow them to stand up and turn around (more on that later).
You'll also need to book your dog on the flight and pay a pet fee since U.S. airlines no longer allow Emotional Support Animals on flights. Depending on the airline, the cost is often around $125 each way.
